So and I moved into our own apartment a couple weeks ago! (That's why I haven't been on... no internet. )So our apartment is kind of crappy to be perfectly honest, but it's our own place! It just needs some love! It's a one bedroom, basement/first level apartment. It's got a kitchen that is pretty much a hole in the wall, but does have a full bathroom - which is pretty awesome. The living room is like a giant rectangle - it's really freakin long.
So we move in... and the place isn't really cleaned at all like they said it would be. They did paint the walls in some of the rooms, and shampooed the carpets, but that was about it. There was dirt and spiderwebs everywhere. So I cleaned the bathroom first, then the bedroom. I drew the line at the kitchen though. There were like food crumbs in all the draws and cabinets, cat hair in the cabinets, cobwebs on everything, the fridge had food caked onto the entire inside, and was pretty much generally filthy. I immediately called our apartment manager and explained to him that the apartment was NOT cleaned as it should have been and he said he would send someone over to clean it. So he didn't. At least not for DAYS. In the meantime, I had to call him again because we were literally getting about 30 seconds of hot water. So he came over and replaced a part on our hot water heater and voila! Hot water! Let me also mention randomly that in the first couple days I saw some of the LARGEST insects I have ever seen ever. I didn't know what they were, but I killed them. Now for the rest of the story...

On June 10th... I turned 25. I'm officially a quarter of a century old. I actually had to work on the day of my birthday though. So planned to celebrate my birthday this past weekend. He took me to these Japanese gardens in the area. They are completely breathtaking. I was so happy! When we were walking along, they have this whole area where there are waterfalls. So we sat down next to the large waterfall and he pulls a small box out of his pocket. Inside the box was a beautiful necklace! He went and found the necklace that matches my favorite set of earrings perfectly. I was so happy. So we continued to walk and enjoy the gardens, and then on the property they have a really excellent restaurant that we ended up having lunch at. Now after this we decided to go back home and relax.

And shortly after arriving home, the apartment manager finally sent someone over to clean the kitchen! I was psyched! So after the cleaning woman left, I was like "awesome! Now I can run the dishwasher and clean my dishes since I have a place to put them now"... So I load up the dishwasher and start to run it... and we go off and were playing games... and when I went to go back into the kitchen... IT WAS FLOODED!!! Not just the kitchen though... part of the living room rug and the hallway rug were soaked and it even flooded a little into the bathroom! Now just got to say that I purposely asked about the dishwasher before I used it and the apartment manager told me that it was perfectly okay to use and that it was functioning fine. Now... I was rather pissed off at this point. I called the apartment manager... a lot. And I just kept getting his voicemail. So I left him 2 and then gave up and and I went and watched some of the 1st season of Chuck (which he also bought me for my birthday).

The next morning... at like 50 am... the apartment manager calls me back and just keeps apologizing and saying how he didn't have his phone on him...blah blah blah... So I just pretty much told him that these issues need to be fixed because we are not paying to live in a place that was presented as being clean and fully functioned when in fact everything is dirty and broken. So the same day the apartment manager took the dishwasher out and cleaned our carpets. We are still waiting on the new dishwasher.

So yeah... that was about it. This weekend and the weekend after we are going to be hanging out with friends and maybe even geeking it hardcore... playing D&D.
